Abbe Steel, MSc
Founder and CEO

The founder of HealthiVibe, Abbe has led HealthiVibe from startup to becoming the leading global provider of patient-centered initiatives. In her role as CEO, Abbe leads the company’s strategic roadmap for the company’s global suite of service and product offerings.

Abbe is an innovative leader and patient champion with more than 28 years of experience leading clinical development and post-marketing programs in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to founding HealthiVibe, Abbe was the Vice President, Patient & Physician Services at UBC-Express Scripts. Previously she worked in a variety of patient-centered roles at Sanofi, PAREXEL, and a health information technology startup (acquired by Cerner).

Abbe received her Master of Science in Health Communications from Boston University and Bachelors degree from George Washington University.

Tom Howard
Chief Information Officer

Tom is the Chief Information Officer at HealthiVibe, leading HealthiVibe’s suite of web-based technologies currently deployed in more than 60 countries. Tom is a software architect and technology innovator with more than 25 years in software and database design, health informatics and analysis.

Prior to joining HealthiVibe, Tom was a senior engineer and software architect leading information security and analytics platforms at Verisign. Previously, he worked as a software engineer designing products to support healthcare informatics and public healthcare dataset analysis for the pharmaceutical industry.

Tom received his Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts.


Jennifer Kelly
Vice President, Operations

Jen works in partnership with our executive leaders to drive high performance and project delivery to our global pharmaceutical clients. Jen has over 15 years experience working in the life sciences industry managing operations and project delivery across Phase II-IV clinical trials, registries and commercial programs. Prior to working at HealthiVibe, Jen worked at UBC as an Associate Director, leading small- and large-scale projects as well as senior oversight and management of a high volume Clinical Coordinating Call Center. Previously, Jen worked at Partners in Corporate Health.

Jen received her Bachelors degree in psychology and communications from West Virginia University.


Valerie Powell, MS
Vice President, Research Services

Valerie is a Research Scientist with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Valerie leads HealthiVibe’s Research Services team and Digital Patient Experience (PX) Lab. She manages our qualitative and quantitative research offerings, delivering research that influences trial protocols, patient recruitment and retention plans, and patient messaging.

Prior to joining HealthiVibe, Valerie was Senior Director, Patient Insights & Engagement at Mapi Group/Icon Plc and Vice President, Learning Strategies at Adheris Behavioral Insights Group/inVentiv Health.

Valerie received her Master of Science in Instructional & Performance Technology from Boise State University and her Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed the Citi Program’s Human Subjects Research program on Social, Behavioral and Educational (SBE) Research and is a frequent presenter at conferences regarding patient-focused research processes and results.


Chris Fidyk
Vice President, Business Development

Chris leads the company's business development group that is responsible for building value-creating relationships with life science customers and partners in support of the overall business and strategic growth objectives for HealthiVibe. Chris brings nearly 15 years of enterprise sales and business development experience to the company, with a specialization in leading commercial teams at innovative start-ups and scale-ups to optimize product/service portfolios, go-to-market execution, sales and delivery processes, and revenue and EBITDA expansion.

Prior to joining HealthiVibe, Chris worked at several successful start-ups and scale-ups focused on bringing disruptive technologies and solutions into established enterprise customer ecosystems. Earlier in his career, he worked in marketing at Amgen where he first recognized the importance of helping the life science industry undertake a permanent strategic shift towards patient centeredness.

Chris received his Master in Business Administration degree from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and his Bachelor in Computer Science degree from Columbia University.


Jorge Armanet
Chief Strategy Officer

Jorge is a technology and media entrepreneur with more than 15 years of international experience building and managing teams and companies around new technology and healthcare.

In 2009, he founded HealthUnlocked - the largest social network for patients - to offer a new model of healthcare focused on patients themselves as a solution to the global healthcare crisis. Changing the way people find information, support and services, HealthUnlocked transformed the way healthcare is delivered - by payers, providers and industry - helping people to live better lives, enjoy better outcomes and deliver dramatic savings to the healthcare systems of the world. Jorge served as Chief Executive Officer of HealthUnlocked until the acquisition of the company by Corrona, LLC, in October 2020.

As an entrepreneur, Jorge founded Plataforma Publico, an open-source media lab that promotes cultural creativity and ideas in 2000, and in 2002 he founded the popular network and magazine Hecho en Chile - a Chilean ‘Big Issue’ and support network for low-income students. In 2007 he also founded DO TANK, a technology lab building functional prototypes for the private sector to test and scale new Web business models.

Jorge holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Innovation, Strategy and Organisation from Cambridge University that was preceded by a Master of Arts degree in Digital Media at Goldsmiths College (University of London). He also earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Engineering and Sciences from the Catholic University of Chile. He held academic scholarships from the British Chevening, the Shell Centenary Fund, the Cambridge Overseas Trust and the Jesus College Foundation.
